Jaya Bachchan Praises Agastya Nanda’s Individuality Ahead of ‘Ikkis’ Release

Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan has lauded her grandson Agastya Nanda’s determination and individuality ahead of his much-awaited film Ikkis. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, the biographical war drama is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Jaya Bachchan opened up about Agastya’s acting journey and how he reminds her of her younger self. “Luckily, Agastya is a fast learner. Neither of his parents are actors, so he’s learning from his grandparents and his Maamu (Uncle). You know me, I wouldn’t praise anyone easily, least of all my own family. But Agastya is special. That child is determined to forge his own path. Just like I once did. Like me, he won’t follow the herd,” she said proudly.

Her remarks have sparked admiration online, with many praising the veteran actor’s candid acknowledgment of her grandson’s individuality and discipline.

Meanwhile, Agastya’s grandfather, Amitabh Bachchan, penned a touching note on his personal blog expressing deep pride and affection. “Agastya! I held you in my hands as soon as you were born... few months later, you reached out to play with my beard. Today, you play in theatres all over the world,” he wrote emotionally.

The megastar continued, “You are special... all my prayers and blessings to you. May you bring glory to your work and pride to the family.”

Agastya Nanda made his debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies and now steps into a more mature, challenging role as the brave soldier Arun Khetarpal in Ikkis. The film highlights the courage and sacrifice of Khetarpal, who destroyed 10 Pakistani tanks before giving his life for the nation during the 1971 Battle of Basantar.

Produced by Maddock Films and Dinesh Vijan, Ikkis also stars Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Simar Bhatia, Sikandar Kher, and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit theatres in December 2025, promising an emotionally charged and inspiring cinematic experience.

With blessings from his legendary grandparents and a powerful role in hand, Agastya Nanda seems ready to carry forward the Bachchan legacy—but on his own terms.
