IIT Guwahati Extends GATE 2026 Registration Deadline to September 28

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced an extension for the GATE 2026 registration deadline, allowing candidates additional time to complete their applications without incurring a late fee. The new deadline is now September 28, 2025, instead of the earlier date of September 25.

For candidates applying with a late fee, the submission window has also been extended to October 9, giving aspirants more flexibility to complete the process. Officials advise applicants to submit their forms early to avoid technical issues. Applications are accepted exclusively online at the official GATE 2026 portal: gate2026.iitg.ac.in.


Exam Schedule

The GATE 2026 examination will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, with two shifts each day:

  • Forenoon session: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

  • Afternoon session: 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm

The results are expected to be released on March 19, 2026.

  2. Click on the application portal link on the homepage

  3. Complete registration and log in

  4. Fill in the application form and upload required documents

  5. Pay the application fee and submit the form

  6. Download and print the confirmation page for reference


Application Fee

  • Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates: Rs 1000 per paper (regular), Rs 1500 (extended)

  • All other candidates, including foreign nationals: Rs 2000 per paper (regular), Rs 2500 (extended)

  • Candidates opting for two papers must pay double the respective fees

  • Recent passport-size photograph (as per guidelines)

  • Signature (as per guidelines)

  • Valid photo ID (original required on exam day)

  • Category certificate (if applicable, in PDF)

  • PwD/UDID or Dyslexic certificate (if applicable, in PDF)
