Illegal Firecrackers, Crude Bombs Worth Lakhs Seized in Mathura Ahead of Diwali

Mathura police have seized a large cache of illegal firecrackers and locally made bombs from a warehouse in the Vrindavan area, days ahead of Diwali 2025. The seized stock, valued at several lakhs, was stored in a densely populated locality, posing a severe safety hazard.

The pre-Diwali raid was part of a citywide campaign against illegal fireworks. During the operation in Pratap Bazaar, one individual was detained for questioning. Police recovered firecrackers of multiple brands along with locally manufactured explosive devices.

Senior officer Rajeev Kumar Singh said that the warehouse’s location could have triggered a major accident at any time. The entire stock has been confiscated, and legal proceedings are underway. The operation was conducted under instructions from the Director General of Police (DGP) to curb unlawful storage of fireworks ahead of the festival.
