Lucknow to Flag Off First Batch of BrahMos Missiles Tomorrow

Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow is set to mark a historic milestone in defence manufacturing as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and CM Yogi Adityanath will flag off the first batch of BrahMos missiles from the BrahMos Aerospace Unit in Sarojini Nagar on Saturday.

The event highlights the achievements of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) and India’s push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The Lucknow facility, inaugurated in May 2025, is equipped for missile assembly, integration, testing, and quality checks, and is ready to supply missiles to the Indian Armed Forces.

During the ceremony, officials will witness the booster docking process, review presentations at various facilities, and see demonstrations including a mobile autonomous launcher. DG BrahMos, Dr Jaytirth R Joshi, will hand over a GST bill and cheque to CM Yogi Adityanath, symbolising revenue generation and employment creation for the state.

The Lucknow unit, the first in the corridor to manage the entire missile production process indigenously, strengthens India’s strategic autonomy and positions UP as a key aerospace and defence manufacturing hub under the “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative. With expanded production, the facility is also poised to support future exports and next-generation BrahMos variants.
