India Officially Bids to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad

India has formally submitted Ahmedabad’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, presenting a proposal centred on affordability, sustainability, inclusivity, and long-term legacy. The presentation was made to the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee in London, with the Indian delegation led by Gujarat Sports Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P.T. Usha.

The 2030 edition of the Games will mark 100 years of the Commonwealth Sport Movement, and India’s bid positions Ahmedabad as a potential host city for this historic centenary event. The proposal highlights a compact games footprint featuring international-standard venues, efficient transport infrastructure, and high-quality accommodation.

Emphasising Games Reset principles, the bid integrates para-sports, gender equity, human rights protection, and community engagement, ensuring benefits extend beyond the event to athletes, local communities, and the wider Commonwealth.

Minister Sanghavi remarked, “Hosting the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad will be a proud milestone for Gujarat and India, inspiring youth and supporting our vision for Viksit Bharat 2047.” P.T. Usha added, “Ahmedabad is ready to take the baton from Glasgow 2026 and set the stage for the 2034 Games, honouring the past while shaping the future of Commonwealth Sport.

With coordinated backing from the Centre, Gujarat government, and the Commonwealth Games Association of India, the proposal underscores India’s ambition to deliver a globally impactful, sustainable, and inclusive Games.
