Jammu Schools Closed for Pooja Holidays 2025: University Exams Postponed, Students to Get 14-Day Festive Break

The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that all government and recognised private schools up to the higher secondary level in the Jammu division will remain closed from October 19 to November 2, 2025, in observance of the Pooja festive season.

The order, issued by Manisha, Personal Officer at the Directorate of School Education Jammu, directs all educational institutions to follow the scheduled 14-day festive break.

Earlier in October, schools in Jammu had temporarily closed on October 6 and 7 due to heavy rainfall, which was unrelated to Valmiki Jayanti celebrations.

Festive School Closures Across India

Several other states are observing similar festival-related school breaks:

  • Rajasthan: Schools closed from October 13 to 24 for Diwali celebrations.

  • Noida (UP): Schools expected to close from October 20 to 23, official notice pending.

  • Puducherry: Quarterly school holiday from October 15 to 21, following exams ending October 14, with classes resuming October 22.

University of Jammu Exams Postponed

The University of Jammu has postponed exams initially scheduled for October 20, 22, and 23, 2025, due to the festive season.

Dr Raj Kumar, Joint Registrar (Examinations), advised students to stay in touch with their respective colleges for updates on rescheduled exam dates. Students are encouraged to adjust their academic and personal plans in accordance with the revised schedule.

With schools and university exams impacted, the Jammu division students will enjoy a long festive break, allowing them time for celebrations while planning ahead for academic commitments.

For more updates, students and parents are advised to check official notices from the Directorate of School Education Jammu and University of Jammu.
