Kerala Congress Accuses CPI(M)-BJP Nexus Over Yogi Adityanath’s Ayyappa Summit Message

Kerala Opposition leader VD Satheesan has accused the CPI(M)-led state government of forging an “unholy nexus” with the BJP, after a message from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was read out at the Ayyappa Summit organised by the state government.

Satheesan questioned the rationale behind the BJP hosting a separate Ayyappa devotees’ gathering, when one of its senior leaders had already sent greetings to the state’s official event. “Yogi is arguably their most prominent leader after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP members could have simply attended the government’s summit, and everything would have been in order,” he remarked.

Allegations of Shift from Minority to Majority Appeasement
The Congress leader accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s government of shifting its political strategy from minority appeasement to majority appeasement following perceived electoral setbacks. “Yogi Adityanath appears to be the perfect partner for Pinarayi Vijayan. The approach shifted after minority appeasement failed to yield results in elections,” Satheesan stated.

Criticism of Government’s Ideological Inconsistencies
Referring to reports of a proposed minority gathering by the government, Satheesan mocked the Left’s ideological stance. He said, “The real communists must be wondering about the government’s actions. First, there was the Ayyappa summit; then reports of a minority meeting surfaced. If this continues, they may hold meetings for every religious group. This is turning into a far-right approach, not a communist agenda. Genuine communists are likely to support the UDF this time.”

Message to Kerala Voters
Satheesan asserted that the people of Kerala are perceptive enough to recognize these political maneuvers. He predicted that the “real communists” in the state would ensure that the Left Front does not regain power in upcoming elections.
