Karnataka Bars Official Foreign Travel for Officers Until 2025 End

The Karnataka government has imposed a ban on all official foreign travel by state officers until the end of 2025 or until further notice. The move follows repeated failures to submit mandatory travel reports after earlier official trips.

A circular dated September 23, 2025, issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, states that future trip proposals will only be considered if officers submit detailed reports on their previous foreign visits. These reports must include observations, learnings, recommendations, and details on implementation.

The ban applies to all officers who undertook official travel between August 2024 and July 2025. The circular, signed by T Mahantesh, Under Secretary to the Government, emphasizes that the restriction will remain in effect until further orders.
