MPSC Civil Services Prelims 2025 Postponed: New Exam Date Announced Amid Flood Risk

MPSC Civil Services Prelims 2025 Postponed: New Exam Date Announced Amid Flood Risk

Heavy rains and flood-like conditions across Maharashtra have compelled the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) to postpone several state-level examinations, including the highly anticipated Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2025.

Civil Services Prelims Rescheduled

The Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted Combined Preliminary Examination 2025, initially scheduled for September 28, 2025, will now take place on November 9, 2025.

In an official notice, the Commission cited widespread disruptions in connectivity across villages and talukas due to floods. The statement read: “To ensure no candidate is deprived of appearing for the examination, the Government requested a rescheduling.”

Other Exams Also Affected

The postponement impacts additional examinations, including:

  • Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2025 – originally set for November 9; the revised date will be announced soon through a corrigendum.

  • State-level competitive examinations for technical and non-technical posts in government medical and dental colleges and affiliated hospitals – initially scheduled for September 25 and 26, now postponed.

The Commission stressed that fresh dates will be released shortly to minimize disruptions for candidates.

Reason Behind the Decision

The postponement comes amid red alerts from the State Meteorological Department, warning of continued heavy rainfall in multiple districts, including Solapur. Flooding has severely impacted road connectivity, public transport, and daily life, creating major safety concerns for aspirants traveling to exam centers.

Assuring Fair Access for Candidates

The MPSC emphasized that the decision reflects its commitment to fairness and accessibility. “This step ensures that aspirants have equal opportunity to appear for the examinations without facing undue hardship,” the notice added.

The postponement affects thousands of candidates across Maharashtra and may also require further adjustments to the broader exam calendar in the coming weeks. The state government has assured candidates that revised exam schedules will be declared at the earliest to prevent additional delays.
