Thalapathy Vijay Fans Confuse YouTuber Speed, Call Him ‘Chief Minister of India’
A viral video shows American YouTuber Speed (Darren Jason Watkins Jr.) visibly confused after fans of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay shouted ‘TVK’ and ‘Thalapathy Vijay’ at him while he was travelling in Thailand.
The incident, widely shared on X, captures fans enthusiastically calling out to Speed using references associated with Vijay and his political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
At one point, fans mistakenly described Vijay as the ‘Chief Minister of India’, which added to Speed’s confusion. He questioned whether the reference was connected to cricketer Virat Kohli, highlighting the misinterpretation.
International Influence of Vijay and TVK
The event underscores Vijay’s expanding political and cultural influence, even outside India. Fans abroad passionately support the actor, particularly in the run-up to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, where Vijay is set to contest.
Despite the enthusiastic reception, some online users mocked the mischaracterisation, while others criticised the fans’ behaviour in a foreign country and on a public live stream.
The incident was filmed both by a pillion rider on the fans’ motorcycle and from inside Speed’s car, showing the interaction in real time. Fans also invited Speed to join them on the motorcycle ride, but he politely declined.
The terms ‘TVK’ and ‘Thalapathy Vijay’ are widely used by supporters to refer to the actor and his political initiative, reflecting Vijay’s unique blend of cinematic fame and political ambition.
