Actor Rajat Bedi recently addressed controversies surrounding his past comments on filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, clarifying that veteran actor Mukesh Khanna misquoted him during a podcast interview. Bedi also explained his decision to step away from Bollywood and move to Canada.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, Bedi said, “Whatever Mukesh ji did was wrong. He called me for an interview. I did tell him that when I was not invited for the publicity of the film, and certain circumstances happened. But he blew that up, making it seem like I had to leave the industry because of Rakesh Roshan. This is wrong.”
Bedi added that he had met Rakesh Roshan a week prior to the podcast, emphasizing that the filmmaker had no role in his decision to leave Bollywood.
Reflecting on his experience with Koi Mil Gaya, Bedi explained, “I loved working with Rakesh ji. He’s one of the best technicians I have worked with. But I was disappointed when I was not part of the film’s promotions. You feel sincere about your work and hope it will lift you up, but I was left out. After that, I was not happy with the films I was doing, so I decided to move to Canada.”
He also shared that the commercial aspects of working with Rakesh Roshan were never a concern. “You don’t even talk about charges with someone like Rakesh ji; you just trust that the work will speak for itself,” Bedi noted.
Bedi criticized Khanna for allegedly misusing the interview to gain online views, saying it was wrong to distort his words. “It is very wrong to do that just to get hits,” he remarked, adding that he publicly apologized for any misunderstandings caused.
Rajat Bedi was recently seen portraying Jaraj Saxena in Netflix’s ‘The Ba*ds of Bollywood’**, a satirical action drama about a has-been actor striving for a comeback. The film marked the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, and released on September 18, 2025.
