Russian Strikes Kyiv High-Rise, Hits Energy Sites; 9 Injured

A major Russian attack on central Kyiv early Friday triggered a fire in a high-rise apartment building and struck key energy sites, injuring nine people, with five hospitalized. The assault also caused power cuts and water disruptions in districts on the east bank of the Dnipro River.

Fire and Damage:

  • Firefighters brought a blaze under control that had engulfed apartments on the 6th and 7th floors of a high-rise in Pecherskyi district.

  • Drone fragments struck multiple parts of the city, intensifying the disruption.

Energy Sites Targeted:

  • Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk confirmed damage to energy facilities.

  • Restoration efforts will begin once safety conditions are secured.

Zaporizhzhia Attacks:

  • Russian drones also struck Zaporizhzhia, injuring three and triggering at least one fire.

  • Russia has increasingly targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as winter approaches.

  • Last week, a large missile and drone attack hit Ukraine’s main gas production facilities, causing substantial damage.
