Smriti Mandhana Scores Second Fastest ODI Hundred, Breaks Calendar-Year Runs Record

India’s Smriti Mandhana continued her sensational form, scoring her 12th ODI century in the second match of the three-game series against Australia on Wednesday, September 17, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. The left-hander reached her century in just 77 balls, marking the second-fastest hundred by an Indian woman in ODIs, after her own 70-ball effort against Ireland earlier this year.

Mandhana’s innings also set a new benchmark for the most runs scored by an Indian woman in a single calendar year, surpassing Deepti Sharma’s 787 runs in 2017. She brought up her half-century in 45 balls and completed her century with a boundary off Tahlia McGrath.

With this knock, Mandhana reclaimed the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings for batters and equalled Tammy Beaumont in third place on the list of most hundreds in Women’s ODIs. She is now the Asian batter with the most ODI hundreds against Australia, joining an elite group alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt, Suzie Bates, and Chamari Athapaththu.

2025 Calendar-Year Runs by Indian Women:

  • Smriti Mandhana: 13 matches, 803 runs, 3 hundreds, 4 fifties, avg 61.67

  • Deepti Sharma (2017): 787 runs, 1 hundred, 7 fifties

  • Mithali Raj (2017): 783 runs, 1 hundred, 9 fifties

  • Harmanpreet Kaur (2022): 754 runs, 2 hundreds, 5 fifties

Mandhana has now become the eighth batter overall to score multiple ODI hundreds against Australia and continues to reinforce her position as one of India’s premier women’s cricketers.
