The Social Reckoning: Social Network Sequel to Hit Theatres on October 9, 2026

Mumbai, September 27, 2025 – Oscar-winning filmmaker Aaron Sorkin is returning to Silicon Valley. Sixteen years after The Social Network became a cultural phenomenon, Sorkin is set to write and direct its highly anticipated sequel, The Social Reckoning, premiering on October 9, 2026.

Sony Pictures confirmed that Jeremy Strong will portray Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, while Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, and Bill Burr join the cast.

Described as a “companion piece” to the 2010 classic, the film explores Facebook’s most turbulent decade. Central to the story is whistleblower Frances Haugen (played by Madison), whose revelations about the platform’s impact on teen mental health and the spread of misinformation shook the tech world. She intersects with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (White), whose 2021 Facebook Files exposed the company’s controversial practices.

Production begins next month, with Sorkin producing alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser.

The Social Network was a box-office hit, earning $226 million globally and eight Oscar nominations, winning three, including Best Adapted Screenplay. With The Social Reckoning, Sorkin revisits Facebook’s empire in the modern era of accountability.
