UP Governor Anandiben Patel Warns Against Live-In Relationships and Substance Abuse

Ballia, Uttar Pradesh: Addressing the 7th convocation of Jananayak Chandrashekhar University, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel issued a stark warning against live-in relationships, citing the visible consequences in orphanages across the state.

“If you want to see the consequences of live-in relationships, visit an orphanage. Fifteen to 20-year-old girls are standing in line, each with a one-year-old child,” the Governor said. She criticised men who, she claimed, exploit young women, abandon them after childbirth, and act against societal values.

Patel urged women to focus on noble goals and emphasised the state’s responsibility to protect girls from such situations. She also highlighted concerns over rising substance abuse among youth, stressing the importance of drug-free lifestyles.

In addition, the Governor called for improvements in teaching and learning culture at universities and encouraged students to attend classes regularly to ensure quality education.
