Saleem Ahmad Appointed RVNL CMD, Replaces Sukhmal Chand Jain

State-owned infrastructure company Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has announced a leadership transition, with Saleem Ahmad taking charge as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD).

The appointment comes after Sukhmal Chand Jain stepped down from the post, effective December 23. RVNL confirmed the change in a regulatory filing, stating that Ahmad formally assumed charge on the same date.

Saleem Ahmad was previously serving as Director (Projects) at NBCC (India) Ltd. A civil engineering graduate from Jamia Millia Islamia, he brings over 35 years of experience in executing and managing large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.

His professional background includes extensive work in bridge and tunnel construction, metro rail systems, port infrastructure, and large residential and commercial developments. Prior to joining NBCC, Ahmad served as Executive Director (Civil) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, where he played a key role in enhancing last-mile connectivity for metro commuters. He has also worked with the Mumbai Port Trust.

RVNL highlighted Ahmad’s contributions to sustainable infrastructure development and noted that he has presented technical papers at national and international forums, reflecting his expertise in engineering and project execution.

The leadership change comes at a time when RVNL remains central to India’s railway infrastructure expansion, including project implementation, capacity augmentation, and modernisation initiatives across the national rail network.
