Diwali 2025 is bringing vibrant festivities to Singapore’s Little India, reflecting the city-state’s multicultural spirit. The precinct, home to Indian shops and eateries, is adorned with colorful decorations as the Indian community prepares for the festival of lights.
Indians form nearly 10% of Singapore’s population, with around 57% being Hindus. This year, the celebrations are spearheaded by Minister Indranee Rajah, who organised a community initiative collecting over 300 sarees from across the island.
“These sarees represent more than fabric. They are threads of our cultural heritage being woven into a celebration that brings our entire community together,” Rajah said. The sarees will be distributed to old-age homes, domestic workers, and even sent to India and Malaysia.
Organisations like the Indian Women’s Association Singapore and the Bengali Association Singapore are actively participating, ensuring that Diwali 2025 is celebrated on a grand scale with prayers, cultural events, and community meals across temples nationwide.
The celebrations highlight Singapore’s unity in diversity, with Diwali standing alongside Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Eid as a key festival in the island nation.
