ATF Price Hike: Jet Fuel Rises 5.46%, Commercial LPG Rates Increase From September 1

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have increased by 5.46% from September 1, raising the cost of jet fuel for domestic airlines for the second consecutive month. Commercial LPG cylinder prices have also gone up across several major cities.

The price of ATF has been increased by Rs 6.28 per litre, taking it from Rs 115 to Rs 121.28 per litre, according to state-owned oil marketing companies. The latest increase follows a Rs 5 per litre hike implemented in August.

The rise in jet fuel prices could add to the operating costs of domestic airlines, as ATF accounts for a significant portion of airline expenses. The consecutive monthly increases come amid changes in international benchmark prices.

Commercial LPG prices have also been revised from September 1. The changes apply to 19-kg cylinders commonly used by hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments.

In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by around Rs 9.50 to Rs 2,747.50. Mumbai's revised price is Rs 2,701, while the price in Chennai has reached Rs 2,916.50.

Kolkata recorded an increase of Rs 11.50, taking the commercial LPG cylinder price to Rs 2,884. Bengaluru saw a Rs 10 increase, with the revised price reaching Rs 2,831.

In Thiruvananthapuram, the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,784 after an increase of Rs 10.

Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad recorded increases of Rs 11 each. The revised prices stand at Rs 2,919 in Bhubaneswar and Rs 2,996 in Hyderabad.

In Patna, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased to Rs 3,029, keeping it above the Rs 3,000 level.

For households, however, there is some relief as the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged. The latest LPG revision therefore primarily affects commercial users.

The price of 5-kg FTL non-domestic LPG refills has also been increased by Rs 2. The revised price is Rs 764, compared with Rs 762 earlier.

The latest fuel price revisions mean airlines will face another increase in jet fuel costs after the August hike. At the same time, restaurants, hotels and other businesses dependent on commercial LPG will have to absorb higher cylinder prices from September 1.
