BCCI Elections and AGM Set for September 18; Andaman & Nicobar Membership Proposal on Agenda

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its elections and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on September 18, 2026, with appointments to the IPL Governing Council among the key items on the agenda.

Member associations have been asked to submit the names of their representatives for inclusion in the electoral roll by August 31. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be released on September 1, while nominations will be accepted on September 9 and 10. The final list of contesting candidates is expected on September 12, with results to be announced on September 18.

The AGM will also select two representatives for the IPL Governing Council and induct a representative from the Indian Cricketers' Association. The appointment of BCCI representatives to the ICC is also expected to be discussed.

Andaman & Nicobar Could Move Closer to BCCI Membership

A major proposal before the BCCI is to grant associate membership to the Cricket Association Andaman & Nicobar. If approved, it could mark the beginning of a formal pathway for cricket in the Union Territory to enter the BCCI structure.

However, an immediate entry into India's domestic cricket competitions is unlikely. The focus would initially be on developing cricket infrastructure, organising competitions and strengthening the local player base before an Andaman & Nicobar team could eventually be considered for domestic tournaments.

At present, India's major domestic cricket structure features 38 teams, and Andaman & Nicobar could potentially become a future addition.
