A jewellery store on the outskirts of Bengaluru was looted at gunpoint on Tuesday evening in a brazen armed robbery that has renewed concerns over public safety and law enforcement preparedness in the region. The incident took place at a jewellery outlet located in Dasanapura near Nelamangala, sending shockwaves through the local business community.
According to preliminary information, the robbery occurred at around 6:30 pm when multiple armed men entered the store posing as customers. Within moments, the suspects brandished firearms and threatened the staff, creating panic inside the establishment. The assailants forced employees to open the display counters before making away with gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh, along with Rs 50,000 in cash.
CCTV footage from inside the store captured clear visuals of the suspects during the commission of the crime. The recordings show the men pointing guns at staff members while systematically looting the premises. Investigators said the footage has provided crucial leads, with authorities confirming that the suspects have been identified and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them.
Police teams were rushed to the spot shortly after the incident was reported. A case has been registered, and multiple special teams have been formed to track the accused. Officers are also scanning footage from nearby surveillance cameras to establish the route taken by the robbers before and after the crime.
Officials stated that while no injuries were reported during the robbery, the psychological impact on store employees was significant. Statements have been recorded from staff members, and additional security measures have been advised for jewellery shops operating in the area.
The incident is the latest in a series of armed robberies reported across Karnataka in recent weeks. In a similar case earlier this month, criminals carried out a jewellery heist in the Vijaypura district, during which shots were fired in the air to intimidate people and facilitate escape. The recurrence of such crimes has sparked growing concern among traders and residents alike.
Business owners in Bengaluru’s outskirts have expressed anxiety over the apparent targeting of jewellery establishments, calling for increased police patrolling and stricter surveillance, particularly during evening hours. Several trade associations have urged authorities to deploy additional personnel and conduct regular checks to deter criminal activity.
Law enforcement officials acknowledged the concern and said steps are being taken to strengthen security in vulnerable areas. Senior officers stated that coordinated operations are underway across multiple districts to crack down on organised gangs involved in armed robberies. Police have also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Experts note that the use of firearms in such crimes marks a worrying trend, reflecting growing audacity among criminal networks. They stress that swift arrests and visible policing are essential to restoring confidence among businesses and residents.
As investigations continue, authorities have assured that all efforts are being made to ensure the accused are brought to justice. The case has once again highlighted the urgent need for enhanced security measures in rapidly expanding urban and semi-urban regions around Bengaluru.
