HAL Calls Tejas Dubai Airshow Crash an Isolated Incident, Assures No Impact on Operations

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has termed the Tejas crash at the Dubai Airshow 2025 as an “isolated occurrence,” stressing that the incident happened under exceptional circumstances and does not reflect the overall safety or performance of the indigenous fighter aircraft.

The company issued its official statement days after an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot lost his life when the LCA Tejas crashed during an aerial display at Al Maktoum International Airport on Friday. The aircraft burst into flames moments after losing altitude, shocking spectators and raising concerns as India continues to pitch Tejas internationally.

The IAF has already initiated a court of inquiry to determine the cause of the accident.

In a detailed statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), HAL clarified that the crash will not affect its business operations, financial performance or delivery schedules. The company also confirmed that it is fully cooperating with investigating authorities.

HAL’s Official Statement

“We would like to bring to your attention that the recent incident during the aerial display at the Dubai Air Show is an isolated occurrence arising out of exceptional circumstances. We would like to assure that there is no impact on the Company’s business operations, financial performance or its future deliveries. The Company is extending its full support and cooperation to the agencies conducting the investigation,” HAL said in its filing.

HAL manufactures the Tejas, which is powered by General Electric engines and serves as a key pillar of India’s indigenous defence portfolio showcased on global platforms.

HAL Stock Under Pressure

Following the accident, HAL’s share price reacted sharply. The stock has fallen around 8% over the past five days and was trading 3.14% lower at ₹4,450.70 as of 1:40 pm on Monday. Analysts however believe the correction is sentiment-driven and temporary unless the probe reveals systemic issues.

About the Crash

The Tejas fighter jet went down at approximately 2:10 pm local time during a high-speed flying demonstration. The pilot, Squadron Leader Naman Syal from Kangra, died in the crash. Videos from the event showed the aircraft nosediving before exploding into flames upon impact.

Tejas has been central to India’s defence export efforts in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and the Dubai Airshow was part of India’s ongoing international outreach.
