The trailer of Border 2 has reignited memories of patriotic cinema, with Sunny Deol returning in a form that fans have long associated with raw power, thunderous dialogue and unfiltered emotion. Released ahead of the film’s Republic Day theatrical debut, the trailer showcases large-scale action set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war, but it is Sunny Deol’s commanding presence that dominates the conversation.
Among the many intense moments in the three-minute-and-35-second trailer, one scene in particular has emerged as the defining highlight. In the closing stretch, Sunny Deol’s character, Major Chandpuri, is seen picking up a phone and issuing a sharp warning to a Pakistani officer on the other end of the line. Delivered in his trademark high-decibel style, the dialogue instantly strikes a chord with audiences.
“Humein kya haraoge. Arey tumhare Pakistan mein itne log nahi jitne humare yahan Eid par bakre kaate jaate hain,” he declares with authority. The line, loosely translated, challenges the enemy’s strength and reinforces the film’s aggressive patriotic tone. Its placement at the very end of the trailer appears deliberate, ensuring it lingers long after the visuals fade.
The moment also taps into nostalgia. Sunny Deol has a long history of portraying fearless soldiers on screen, and Border 2 seems to consciously echo the legacy of the 1997 classic Border. In the original film, his dialogue-heavy monologues became cultural touchstones, especially the iconic exchange where he asks his soldiers how far their roar should travel, only to hear the reply — “Lahore tak.” That legacy is clearly being carried forward in the sequel.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 expands the scope of its predecessor by portraying the 1971 war across land, air and sea. The trailer offers sweeping battlefield visuals, coordinated military operations and emotional glimpses into the lives of soldiers and their families, balancing spectacle with sentiment.
Alongside Sunny Deol, the film features Varun Dhawan, Ahaan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in key roles, each representing different facets of the armed forces. Their presence adds generational contrast, while Sunny anchors the film with experience and intensity.
Presented by T-Series in association with J.P. Films, Border 2 positions itself as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers. With its Republic Day release scheduled for January 23, expectations are high for the film to deliver both box office numbers and patriotic resonance.
If the trailer is any indication, Sunny Deol’s fiery warning is not just a dialogue — it is a statement that sets the tone for what promises to be one of the most talked-about war films of the year.
