Jharkhand CID Makes 10th Arrest in JSSC-CGL Exam Irregularities Case

Jharkhand Police's Criminal Investigation Department has made its 10th arrest in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JSSC-CGL) 2023.

The latest accused, Kundan Kumar, a resident of Dumri village in Jharkhand's Palamu district, was arrested as the Special Investigation Team continues its probe into the alleged examination irregularities.

The JSSC-CGL examination was conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission in 2024. The controversy surrounding the examination intensified after job aspirants raised allegations of irregularities and staged protests.

The Jharkhand government had earlier announced the cancellation of several recruitment examinations, including the JSSC-CGL-2023 examination held on September 21 and 22, 2024. However, the Jharkhand High Court subsequently stayed the decision to cancel certain examinations after successful candidates approached the court, expressing concern that they could lose their jobs.

The investigation has led to a series of arrests over the past several weeks. Authorities had earlier arrested an accused from Giridih district, four successful candidates who appeared in the 2024 JSSC-CGL examination, and two other people allegedly connected to the case.

The investigation had earlier resulted in the arrest of Abhay Tiwari, who was posted as a block supply officer in Poriyahat in Godda district at the time of his arrest. His wife, Sushama Kumari, and brother, Akshay Tiwari, were also arrested during the investigation.

With Kundan Kumar's arrest, the total number of people taken into custody in connection with the alleged JSSC-CGL examination irregularities has reached 10.

The Special Investigation Team of the Jharkhand CID is continuing its investigation as the legal proceedings related to the proposed cancellation of the examination remain pending.
