Nashik Godman Arrested: Drugging, Raping Woman; 58 Obscene Videos Recovered

A self-styled godman, Ashok Kharat, has been arrested by the Nashik Crime Branch in a disturbing case involving allegations of sexual exploitation under the guise of religious practices. The case has sparked outrage due to the nature of the accusations and the duration of the alleged abuse.

Police have confirmed that the accused is also known as “Captain” Kharat and had built influence by presenting himself as a spiritual figure.

Allegations of Drugging and Repeated Assault

According to investigators, Kharat allegedly manipulated a 35-year-old married woman by gaining her trust through rituals and claims of possessing supernatural powers. He is accused of drugging her by mixing intoxicants into food and water.

Officials further stated that the accused allegedly used hypnotic influence and psychological control to repeatedly sexually assault the victim over a prolonged period.

Abuse Continued for Nearly Three Years

The survivor reportedly faced exploitation between November 2022 and December 2025. The prolonged nature of the abuse has raised serious concerns about the misuse of faith and authority by individuals posing as spiritual leaders.

After enduring the ordeal for years, the victim eventually approached authorities, leading to the registration of the case and subsequent arrest.

58 Obscene Videos Recovered

During the investigation, police recovered 58 obscene videos allegedly linked to the accused. Authorities suspect that these recordings may have been used for coercion or blackmail.

The digital evidence is currently being analysed to identify the extent of the crime and determine whether more victims were involved.

Pattern of Exploitation Under Religious Cover

Preliminary findings suggest that the accused may have used religious rituals and occult practices as a cover to exploit victims. Investigators are examining whether similar methods were used on other individuals.

The case highlights a concerning pattern where trust in spiritual figures is misused for personal gain and criminal activities.

Investigation Expands to Identify More Victims

Officials have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and may widen further. Authorities are urging potential victims to come forward as more details emerge.

The police are also examining financial, digital, and personal records to uncover the full extent of the network and activities associated with the accused.

Legal Action and Public Concern

The accused remains in custody, and strict legal action is expected under relevant laws. The case has triggered widespread concern about the need for awareness and vigilance against fraudulent spiritual claims.

Authorities have emphasised the importance of reporting such incidents promptly to ensure justice and prevent further exploitation.
