EPFO Introduces ‘Passbook Lite’ and Online Annexure K Access for Members

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched two digital reforms to improve ease of access and transparency for its 2.7 crore active members: Passbook Lite for simplified balance checks and online availability of Annexure K, the transfer certificate needed when employees switch jobs.

Passbook Lite: One Login for Quick Access

Until now, members had to use a separate portal to view contribution and withdrawal details. With Passbook Lite, this information is now available directly on the EPFO Member Portal through a single login.

Key benefits:

  • Unified login: No more switching between portals.

  • Instant snapshot: Contributions, withdrawals, and balance in one view.

  • Faster access: Reduced load on the old portal.

  • Full details still accessible: The old passbook site remains available for detailed records.

For example, an IT employee can now check whether monthly contributions have been deposited without facing delays caused by portal overloads.

Annexure K Now Downloadable

PF transfers made via Form 13 generate Annexure K, which records the transfer of balance and service history between employers. Previously, employees could only access this document upon request. Now, it can be downloaded in PDF format directly from the Member Portal.

Benefits for members:

  • Track PF transfer status in real time.

  • Verify updated balance and service history.

  • Maintain a permanent digital record for pension calculations.

  • Gain confidence and transparency in the transfer process.

For instance, a teacher relocating from Delhi to Bengaluru can instantly download Annexure K, ensuring her PF transfer is completed without relying on manual requests.

These initiatives mark a significant step in enhancing transparency, reducing grievances, and giving EPFO members more control over their provident fund accounts.
