Ex-Jharkhand CM’s Wife, Daughter-in-Law Assaulted by Puja Committee

The wife and daughter-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP state president Babulal Marandi were allegedly assaulted by members of the Amrit Nagar Puja Committee on Thursday evening. The incident reportedly took place while traveling from Giridih to Ranchi, around 7:15 pm.

According to an FIR filed by Preeti Kisku, Marandi’s daughter-in-law, committee members attacked their driver, who sustained serious injuries, after Kisku intervened and protested.

Police were reportedly present at the scene. Hazaribagh authorities have registered a complaint and launched a formal investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to determine the exact circumstances of the assault.

Babulal Marandi served as the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand from November 2000 to March 2003 and later merged his party, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), with the BJP.

The incident has sparked concerns over law and order and the safety of citizens in the region, drawing public and political attention.
