India Rejects Shehbaz Sharif's Victory Claims, Accuses Pakistan of Terrorism Support

India has strongly refuted Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's recent claims at the United Nations, accusing Islamabad of glorifying terrorism and presenting distorted narratives. Petal Ghelot, First Secretary at India's Permanent Mission to the UN, emphasized that terrorism forms the core of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

Ghelot specifically highlighted Pakistan's shielding of the terror group The Resistance Front at the UN Security Council on 25th April 2025, following the Pahalgam massacre in Jammu and Kashmir. India also countered Sharif’s statements regarding the May 2025 conflict, stating that the Pakistan military requested a cessation of hostilities on 10th May, after Indian forces targeted and destroyed multiple Pakistani airbases.

"If destroyed runways and burnt hangars are considered victory, as the Prime Minister claimed, Pakistan is welcome to enjoy it," Ghelot remarked, reiterating India's stance. The Indian diplomat further stressed that the Pahalgam terror attack is a clear example of Pakistan’s continued involvement in sponsoring terrorism in the region.

This strong rebuttal underscores India’s position at the UN against Pakistan-backed terrorism, highlighting the ongoing tension between the two countries and reinforcing the international community’s awareness of cross-border terror threats.
