KJ Yesudas Receives MS Subbulakshmi Award; Sai Pallavi and Anirudh Ravichander Honoured with Kalaimamani

The Tamil Nadu government has announced the prestigious Bharathiyar, MS Subbulakshmi, and Kalaimamani awards for 2021, 2022, and 2023, recognising exceptional contributions in the fields of art, music, and culture.

Legendary playback singer KJ Yesudas has been conferred with the MS Subbulakshmi award for his unparalleled contribution to Indian music.

The Kalaimamani awards, the state’s highest civilian recognition for artists, have been presented to several distinguished personalities across cinema, music, television, and the arts:

  • 2021: Actors SJ Suryah and Sai Pallavi, director Lingusamy, set designer M Jayakumar, stunt choreographer Super Subbarayan, and TV actor PK Kamalesh.

  • 2022: Actor Vikram Prabhu, producer Jaya VC Guhanathan, lyricist Viveka, public relations officer Diamond Babu, photographer Lakshmikanthan, and TV actor Metti Oli Gayathri.

  • 2023: Actor Manikandan, comedian George Maryan, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, playback singer Shwetha Mohan, choreographer Sandy (Santhoshkumar), PRO Nikkil Murukan, and TV actors NP Umashankar Babu and Azhagan Tamizhmani.

The awards, presented by the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram under the Directorate of Art and Culture, will be formally handed over by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in October. Each recipient will receive a three-sovereign gold shield along with a certificate, honouring their remarkable contributions to the state’s cultural heritage.
