Vicky Kaushal Honoured as Aamir Khan Picks Him as Bhuvan for ‘Lagaan’ Remake

Actor Vicky Kaushal expressed gratitude after Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan named him as the ideal choice to play Bhuvan if Lagaan were remade today. Kaushal praised Khan and shared his excitement with fans on social media.

Aamir Khan’s Take on the Ideal Bhuvan

During a podcast with Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel, Khan was asked who could embody Bhuvan in a modern remake of the 2001 classic. He responded:

"Vicky Kaushal, I think he has that quality of Bhuvan – dignity, strength, inner strength, steadiness, and integrity. He reflects all of that very naturally. He is a great actor."

Kaushal shared the podcast clip on his Instagram Stories, captioning:
"There can be no other 'Bhuvan' than Aamir Sir... but such an honour to get such kind words from the master himself. And what an amazing in-depth interview by you @komal.nahta Sir."

About Lagaan

Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) is a period musical sports drama directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film starred Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Suhasini Mulay, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajendra Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Rajesh Vivek, Raj Zutshi, Akhilendra Mishra, Daya Shankar Pandey, with British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne.

Vicky Kaushal’s Recent Work and Upcoming Projects

Kaushal’s latest release, Chhaava, saw him portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the Maratha warrior king, in Laxman Utekar’s directorial. The film also featured Rashmika Mandanna, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Akshaye Khanna.

Looking ahead, Kaushal will star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming project Love and War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film is slated for a March 2026 release.
