NIA Chargesheets 11 in Khalistani RPG Attack on Punjab Police Station

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against 11 accused in connection with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-orchestrated Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack on the Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala district, Punjab, which occurred on April 6, 2025.

The chargesheet, submitted before the NIA Special Court in Mohali, lists violations under the BNS 2023, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act. Investigations have identified another 11 suspects still absconding, and the NIA is actively pursuing them.

According to the probe, foreign-based handlers of the proscribed BKI, namely Harpreet Singh, Mannu Agwan, and Gurpreet Singh, directed the attack. The operatives exploited family ties and vulnerabilities among youth in Punjab and used social media platforms to radicalise and recruit them for anti-India terrorism.

The NIA took over the investigation from the Punjab Police in May 2025, uncovering a meticulously planned conspiracy aimed at spreading terror and promoting Khalistani agendas within India. The agency continues its investigation under Section 193(9) BNSS to apprehend the absconding accused and other unidentified conspirators linked to the attack.

The case highlights ongoing threats from Khalistani terror networks and the use of modern technology to radicalise vulnerable youth, prompting vigilance and counter-terror measures in Punjab and across India.
