Pakistan Train Attack: Jaffar Express Derails Again in Sindh

Jaffar Express Derails in Sindh After Blast, Several Injured

A blast on a railway track in Sindh province derailed five coaches of the Jaffar Express on Tuesday, injuring multiple passengers, according to railway police. The Peshawar-bound train was immediately attended to, and injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The explosion occurred near Somarwah, close to Sultan Kot in Shikarpur district, prompting a rescue operation. Police and paramilitary forces have cordoned off the area and are collecting evidence to determine the cause of the blast. Early reports suggest significant damage to the railway track.

Pattern of Repeated Attacks

The Jaffar Express, which runs between Quetta and Peshawar, has been repeatedly targeted in 2025:

  • March 11, 2025: Hijacking resulted in 26 deaths, including security personnel; 354 hostages rescued after security forces killed 33 terrorists.

  • June 2025: Explosion in Jacobabad, derailing four coaches; no casualties.

  • August 4, 2025: Pilot engine fired upon near Kolpur; Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility.

  • August 10, 2025: IED blast in Mastung derailed six coaches, injuring four.

  • September 2025: Dasht area blast destroyed one coach, derailed six others, 12 injured.

Authorities believe ethnic Baloch terrorist groups, including the BLA, are behind these attacks.

Ongoing Security Concerns

Repeated attacks on the Jaffar Express highlight persistent security challenges for rail travel in Pakistan, particularly along routes through Balochistan and Sindh. Investigations are ongoing, and security forces continue to monitor the train route closely to prevent further incidents.

Bottom line: The latest derailment marks another violent episode in a series of attacks on the Jaffar Express, underscoring the need for enhanced security measures along Pakistan’s vulnerable railway corridors.
