Pedri criticises Barcelona after 4-1 thrashing by Sevilla

FC Barcelona suffered a 4-1 defeat against Sevilla on October 5, marking their first LaLiga loss of the 2025 season. Midfielder Pedri expressed frustration, admitting that the team “did not know what to do with the ball” and struggled to assert control throughout the match.

Sevilla opened the scoring in the 13th minute through a penalty converted by Alexis Sanchez after Isaac Romero was fouled in the box. Romero doubled the lead in the 37th minute following a swift counter-attack. Barcelona briefly responded just before halftime with Marcus Rashford finishing from Pedri’s lobbed pass.

In the second half, Robert Lewandowski missed a penalty, allowing Sevilla to capitalize. Jose Angel Carmona restored the two-goal lead in the 90th minute, and Akor Adams sealed the 4-1 victory during stoppage time.

The win moved Sevilla to fourth place with 13 points, while Barcelona remained second with 19 points, two behind Real Madrid. Pedri emphasised the need for improvement to regain form after the international break.
