Reliance Partners with Meta to Launch Enterprise AI Solutions in India

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Meta have announced a strategic joint venture to develop enterprise-grade artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for Indian businesses. The collaboration aims to make advanced AI tools affordable and accessible to companies of all sizes, from start-ups and small enterprises to large corporations.

Building AI for Enterprises

The partnership will leverage Meta’s open-source Llama models to create AI platforms and tools designed to enhance efficiency across key business functions, including customer service, sales, IT operations, and finance. Reliance brings its extensive experience with thousands of Indian enterprises, while Meta contributes its expertise in developing and refining Llama AI models.

Investment and Ownership

The companies have committed approximately Rs 855 crore (around US$100 million) to the venture. Reliance will hold a 70% stake, while Meta will retain 30%. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

Affordable and Scalable AI Solutions

The venture aims to offer ready-to-use AI tools that can be deployed at scale. Leveraging Llama models, the initiative is expected to lower the costs of running AI compared to alternative solutions. Businesses will have the flexibility to use the tools on the cloud, on-premises, or across their own infrastructure, providing better control over operational costs.

Leadership Perspectives

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of RIL, said the partnership is a step toward bringing AI to every Indian enterprise. “Our goal is to democratise enterprise-grade AI, enabling businesses to innovate faster and compete globally,” he stated.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing that the partnership will expand the real-world use of Meta’s AI models while strengthening the company’s presence in the enterprise sector.

Implications for Indian Businesses

The joint venture positions Reliance and Meta at the forefront of India’s AI transformation. For enterprises, the partnership promises access to powerful, cost-effective AI tools that could significantly enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement.
