Sunny Sanskari Day 1 Box Office Collection: Varun Dhawan-Janhvi Kapoor
Director Shashank Khaitan’s family entertainer Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, opened to a Rs 9.25 crore nett collection on its first day in India.
The film faced stiff competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, which achieved a pan-India opening of over Rs 60 crore nett.
According to Sacnilk, the overall occupancy on Day 1 was 32.45%, with evening shows driving the highest footfalls. Regional highlights included Chennai at 58% occupancy, Bengaluru at 51.33%, and Kolkata at 45.67%. Cities like Mumbai, NCR, and Hyderabad performed steadily, while Surat, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad recorded lower turnout.
India Today praised the film’s witty writing and nostalgic Bollywood references, highlighting homages to iconic moments from SRK’s ‘Chak De’ to ‘Mr. India’. However, the review noted that the film stumbles in the climax, affecting the overall impact.
Produced under Dharma Productions, the film features Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, blending romantic-comedy elements with glossy visuals. Its box office success in the coming days will hinge on its ability to sustain momentum against Kantara Chapter 1.
