UP College Horror: Students Used Water from Tank Containing Decomposed Body

Shock and outrage gripped Mahamrishi Devaraha Baba Medical College after it was revealed that students and staff had consumed water from a tank containing a decomposed body for nearly ten days.

The foul smell from the fifth-floor tank first alerted cleaning staff, who discovered the badly decomposed and unidentifiable corpse. The body was removed late at night under police supervision and sent for post-mortem examination. During this period, water from the tank was supplied to both the OPD and ward buildings.

Following the discovery, Deoria District Magistrate Divya Mittal was appointed investigation officer. The college’s principal, Dr Rajesh Kumar Barnwal, has been temporarily relieved of duty, with Dr Rajni, head of the Anatomy Department at Etah Medical College, serving as acting principal.

During a morning inspection, the DM noted that the fifth-floor tank, which should have been locked, was open, raising serious safety concerns. A video of the DM questioning the principal has gone viral on social media.

The contaminated tank has been sealed, and water supply has been restored through tankers. A five-member inquiry team, led by the Chief Development Officer, has been instructed to submit a report within two days.

Officials have urged students and staff to use only the alternative water supply until the investigation concludes.
