Vishal Brahma Arrested: SOTY 2 Actor Caught With Rs 40 Crore Methaqualone

Bollywood actor Vishal Brahma, known for his role as Samrat in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2 (2019), was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Chennai airport for allegedly trafficking methaqualone worth Rs 40 crore.

Brahma, originally from Assam, was intercepted while returning from Singapore on AI 347. Authorities claim he was allegedly linked to a Nigerian drug syndicate, and financial distress is believed to have driven him towards the crime.

Who is Vishal Brahma?

Vishal Brahma gained recognition for playing Samrat in Student of the Year 2, a teen drama directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar. The film, starring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria, and Ananya Panday, follows college students competing for the prestigious “Student of the Year” trophy.

Apart from SOTY 2, Brahma appeared in projects like Bihu Attack. In August 2024, he publicly accused the makers of Bihu Attack of non-payment, claiming he spent a month on set at his own expense and received no response from the production team for two months.

This arrest has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood community, highlighting the pressures faced by struggling actors in the industry.
