Nitish Kumar Declares Rs 1.48 Crore Flat, Minimal Cash as Bihar Cabinet Reveals Assets

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and members of his cabinet have made their asset declarations public, reinforcing the state government’s stated commitment to transparency in public life. The disclosures were released on December 31, 2025, by the Cabinet Secretariat Department, detailing movable and immovable assets held by the Chief Minister and senior ministers for the current term.

According to the official declaration, Nitish Kumar has modest cash holdings of Rs 20,552 and operates three bank accounts. These include deposits of Rs 27,217 in his State Bank of India account at the Patna Secretariat, Rs 3,358 in his SBI Parliamentary House account in Delhi, and Rs 27,191 in his Punjab National Bank account at the Boring Road branch in Patna. The Chief Minister’s financial profile shows limited liquid cash and relatively small bank balances.

In terms of movable assets, Nitish Kumar owns a Ford EcoSport vehicle valued at Rs 11.32 lakh and jewellery worth approximately Rs 2.03 lakh. His total movable assets are valued at Rs 17.66 lakh. On the immovable asset front, he owns a residential flat at the Parliament Bihar Cooperative Housing Society in Dwarka, with a current market valuation of Rs 1.48 crore. No additional land or residential properties have been listed in his name.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has declared Rs 1.35 lakh in cash, while his wife holds Rs 35,000 in cash. His bank deposits include Rs 15.35 lakh in a State Bank of India account and Rs 2.09 lakh in an HDFC Bank account, along with investments in bonds and shares. Additional deposits are held in the names of his wife and children. Chaudhary owns a 2023 model Bolero Neo valued at Rs 7 lakh, along with firearms that include a rifle and a revolver. He has declared ownership of 200 grams of gold valued at Rs 20 lakh, while his wife owns an equal quantity of gold worth the same amount. His wife also owns a residential flat in Patna valued at Rs 29 lakh.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has reported Rs 88,560 in cash and bank deposits exceeding Rs 55 lakh. His investments include shares in companies such as Shiva Biogenetic and Power Grid. He has also declared ownership of 90 grams of gold jewellery valued at Rs 9.90 lakh.

Health Minister Mangal Pandey’s declaration shows significant bank savings, with over Rs 1 crore deposited in a single account. His total movable assets are valued at Rs 1.32 crore and include a Tata Safari vehicle, gold and silver ornaments, and a licensed rifle. His cash holdings stand at Rs 59,000.

Minister Ashok Chaudhary has reported an annual income of Rs 20.34 lakh for the 2024–25 financial year and bank deposits of Rs 53.86 lakh. His spouse, however, has declared substantially higher assets, including bank deposits exceeding Rs 22.54 crore and jewellery valued at Rs 9.60 crore.

Another minister, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, has declared Rs 1 lakh in cash, movable assets worth Rs 1.12 crore, agricultural land valued at Rs 55 lakh, and a residential building worth Rs 15 lakh.

The publication of these asset details forms part of the Bihar government’s ongoing transparency framework, aimed at enhancing public accountability and providing citizens with clear insight into the financial standing of elected representatives.
