Sobhita Dhulipala’s Telugu Crime Thriller Cheekatilo Gets Prime Video Release Date

Actor Sobhita Dhulipala is set to lead a gripping new Telugu crime thriller titled Cheekatilo, which will premiere globally on Prime Video on January 23. The Prime Original film will be available for streaming across India and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Set against the shadowy underbelly of Hyderabad, Cheekatilo marks a return to Telugu cinema for Sobhita, who plays Sandhya, a determined true-crime podcaster. Her character’s quest for justice takes a dangerous turn following the mysterious death of her intern, an incident that draws her deep into a complex web of violence, secrets, and moral ambiguity.

As Sandhya follows the trail of unanswered questions, she finds herself navigating a city far removed from its familiar image. The film presents Hyderabad not as a thriving urban hub, but as a place where hidden crimes coexist beneath everyday life, creating a tense backdrop for a psychological and investigative narrative.

The film is directed by Sharan Kopishetty and produced by D Suresh Babu under the banner of Suresh Productions. The story and screenplay have been developed by Chandra Pemmaraju and Kopishetty, with a strong emphasis on character-driven storytelling rather than conventional crime tropes.

Cheekatilo features a strong ensemble cast, including Viswadev Rachakonda, Chaitanya Visalakshmi, Esha Chawla, Jhansi, Aamani, and Vadlamani Srinivas, all of whom play pivotal roles in shaping the narrative.

Positioned as a gritty crime suspense drama, the film taps into the growing popularity of true-crime storytelling in Indian streaming content. The makers promise a taut, edge-of-the-seat experience that blends investigative drama with psychological tension, as Sandhya uncovers disturbing patterns linked to a predator operating in the city.

With Cheekatilo, Sobhita Dhulipala continues to expand her repertoire of complex, unconventional roles, particularly in digital-first cinema. She was last seen in Love Sitara, which is currently streaming on ZEE5.

As anticipation builds ahead of its January 23 premiere, Cheekatilo is expected to be a significant addition to Prime Video’s expanding slate of regional originals, offering audiences a dark, immersive crime story rooted in contemporary urban realities.
