Top Maoist Leader Madvi Hidma Killed in Andhra Encounter

Madvi Hidma, one of the most notorious Maoist commanders linked to some of India’s deadliest insurgent attacks, was killed in an encounter in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Tuesday.

Security agencies confirmed that Hidma, aged 43, was eliminated during a coordinated operation following sustained intelligence-led surveillance. For years, he remained one of the most wanted Maoist leaders, known for orchestrating high-impact assaults on security forces and civilians across central India.

Linked to 26 Major Attacks

Hidma was associated with at least 26 deadly operations carried out by Maoist cadres in Chhattisgarh and adjoining regions. He played a key role in:

  • 2010 Dantewada ambush, which killed 76 CRPF personnel

  • 2013 Jhiram Valley massacre, where senior political leaders and security personnel were targeted

  • Multiple IED strikes and ambushes in the Bastar region over the last decade

His operational influence extended through the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion 1, known for its involvement in large-scale ambushes.

Major Blow to Maoist Network

Officials described his neutralisation as a major setback to Maoist organisational leadership. Hidma had long evaded capture despite several high-intensity counter-insurgency operations. Sources indicated that the encounter followed weeks of intelligence inputs on his movement along the Andhra Pradesh–Chhattisgarh border.

Further details on the encounter, recovery of weapons, and identities of accompanying cadres are awaited as security forces continue combing operations in the area.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
