The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday conducted searches at the residence of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abdullah Gazi in Hasnabad, located in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged foreign funding linked to the construction of a madrasa.
Officials questioned Gazi during the operation while collecting documents and examining financial records related to the case.
The operation was carried out at Gazi's residence in Rameshwarpur, with searches also taking place at other locations, including Haroa, as investigators expanded the scope of the probe.
Officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) assisted the Uttar Pradesh ATS during the searches, while Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) provided security. Local police and district administration officials were also present during the operation.
According to officials, investigators are examining allegations that substantial funds from foreign sources were transferred into bank accounts linked to Abdullah Gazi for the construction of a madrasa in Rameshwarpur.
