Cricketer Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, married Saaniya Chandhok in a grand ceremony held in South Mumbai on March 5. The wedding turned into a high-profile celebration as prominent personalities from cricket, Bollywood and business gathered to witness the occasion.
The private ceremony took place at a luxury venue in Mumbai, where close family members, friends and several well-known figures from different fields attended the celebrations. The event drew massive attention due to the presence of many cricket legends and celebrities who came together to celebrate the couple’s special day.
The wedding followed weeks of festivities that had already generated excitement among fans and well-wishers. Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok had announced their engagement on August 25 last year, and several pre-wedding events were organised in the months leading up to the ceremony.
The ceremony saw the presence of many iconic names from Indian cricket. Former India captain MS Dhoni attended the wedding along with his wife Sakshi Dhoni, drawing significant attention from fans and media.
India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir was also present with his wife Natasha Jain. The coach reportedly attended the ceremony before leaving for preparations related to India’s T20 World Cup semi-final against England later the same day.
Several legendary cricketers joined the celebrations, including Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and Ravi Shastri. Their presence added a historic touch to the wedding as multiple generations of Indian cricket gathered under one roof.
World Cup-winning all-rounder Yuvraj Singh arrived with his wife Hazel Keech, while former Indian all-rounders Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan were also spotted at the venue.
Other notable cricket personalities attending the ceremony included Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina with his wife Priyanka Chaudhary, commentator Aakash Chopra, former pacer Zaheer Khan with actress Sagarika Ghatge, and former spinner Harbhajan Singh with actress Geeta Basra.
Young cricketer Prithvi Shaw, former wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel, and former pacer Dhawal Kulkarni were also among the guests.
The guest list also featured senior administrators and officials from Indian cricket. Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council, attended the ceremony along with India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla and former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad were also present. Veteran cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar attended with his wife, while several domestic cricketers and sports personalities joined the celebrations.
The wedding also saw a strong presence from Bollywood and the business community. Actor Abhishek Bachchan attended the ceremony along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and family members.
Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar were also seen at the venue.
Business leaders Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, who share close ties with the Tendulkar family, were also associated with the celebrations and were expected to attend the Mumbai ceremony.
Saaniya Chandhok comes from a prominent Mumbai business family but has largely stayed away from the public spotlight.
Her family is connected to the hospitality industry and traces its roots to Iqbal Krishan “IK” Ghai, the entrepreneur behind the well-known Kwality Ice Cream brand and the InterContinental hotel on Mumbai’s Marine Drive.
The family’s business legacy continues through Graviss Hospitality Ltd, which manages several hospitality and food ventures including Baskin-Robbins India.
Saaniya Chandhok is also involved in her own professional ventures. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics and works as a veterinary technician. In addition, she runs a luxury pet care business in Mumbai called Mr Paws, which offers specialised grooming and spa services for pets.
Before the wedding, several celebrations were organised across different venues. The couple’s mehendi ceremony was held at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse, attended by close friends and family.
The celebrations also included a pre-wedding gathering hosted in Jamnagar, which added to the excitement surrounding the wedding.
The marriage of Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok has quickly become one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year, bringing together icons from cricket, cinema and business in a grand Mumbai celebration.
