Devotees Flock to Mathura’s Banke Bihari Temple to Welcome New Year With Prayers

Thousands of devotees gathered at the Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura on Tuesday to usher in the New Year with prayers and darshan, creating a vibrant and devotional atmosphere in the temple town.

From the early hours, long queues formed outside the temple as worshippers waited patiently for a glimpse of Lord Krishna. Despite heavy crowds and tight security arrangements, devotees remained cheerful, expressing faith and gratitude as they began the year with spiritual offerings.

Temple authorities and local administration made elaborate arrangements to manage the influx of devotees, ensuring smooth movement and crowd control within the temple premises. Additional police personnel were deployed to maintain order and facilitate a safe darshan experience.

Many devotees said starting the New Year at the Banke Bihari Temple holds special significance, as Mathura is revered as the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The air resonated with chants and prayers, reflecting the deep spiritual fervour associated with the occasion.

Similar New Year celebrations were also witnessed at major religious and tourist destinations across the country, including Ayodhya, Manali, Srinagar and Hyderabad, as people marked the beginning of the year with prayers, travel and festivities.
