Hugh Jackman Hints at Wolverine Comeback, Says He’s ‘Never Saying Never’ in Marvel Return

Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has once again ignited speculation about his future as Wolverine, leaving fans excited as he refuses to rule out another comeback. Jackman, who recently returned as the iconic mutant in Deadpool & Wolverine, addressed rumours during his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, hinting that he may not be done with the Marvel character just yet.

Jackman—who had firmly said 2017’s Logan would be his final outing—now appears more open than ever to reprising the role, telling Norton:
“Maybe. I’m never saying never ever again.”

With Marvel Studios continuing to expand its multiverse narrative through upcoming blockbusters like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, speculation about Wolverine’s involvement has intensified. Jackman acknowledged that although he once genuinely intended to retire the character, his perspective changed over the years.

He joked that after doing ten Wolverine films, Marvel may already have enough material for an “AI version” of him—but still left the door open to live-action appearances.

Kevin Feige Once Advised Jackman Against Returning

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had earlier suggested Jackman should not revisit the role after Logan, calling it “the greatest ending in superhero history.” But Jackman’s enthusiasm, combined with the multiverse theme, eventually led to his return for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Jackman revealed that after watching the first Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds, he felt a strong pull to collaborate:
“I rang Ryan… I just said, ‘Let’s do it.’ I hadn’t even told my agent.”

Talks Reportedly Continuing Behind the Scenes

Feige recently confirmed that Marvel has been in “discussions” with Jackman and Ryan Reynolds regarding potential future appearances. While nothing is officially confirmed, rumours suggest that Wolverine could have a role—however big or small—in upcoming Avengers films, especially as several former X-Men stars are already set to return.

With the multiverse allowing Marvel to bring back legacy characters through alternate timelines and variants, Wolverine’s return feels more possible now than ever.

For fans, Jackman’s latest statement—“I am never saying never again”—is the biggest hint yet that the claws may not be permanently retired.
