IIT Delhi Protest Continues as Students Reject Institute's Response

The protest at IIT Delhi continued as students rejected the institute's response to demands raised following the death of 31-year-old MSc Physics student Rishikesh Kumar on August 22.

Students said the response provided by the institute was inadequate and maintained that their protest would continue until their concerns and demands were properly addressed. The issue was discussed during a meeting held at the Lecture Hall Complex on August 24, according to the meeting minutes.

The protesting students objected to the administration's account of the case, arguing that it placed significant focus on Rishikesh Kumar's medical history. They said the institute's response did not sufficiently reflect concerns and statements raised by his mother, friends, students from the Physics Department and others regarding the handling of his situation.

Students have continued to demand that the administration address the issues raised by them and provide a response that they consider satisfactory.

More than 300 students gathered outside the Director's office, raising slogans and calling for the immediate acceptance of their demands. The protest has continued on the IIT Delhi campus, while classes remain suspended amid the ongoing situation.

The students have made it clear that they do not consider the institute's current response sufficient and intend to continue their protest as they seek further action from the IIT Delhi administration.
