PM Modi Marks SRCC Centenary With Metro Ride, Student Outreach and India Growth Push

Shri Ram College of Commerce marked its centenary celebrations on Teachers’ Day, commemorating 100 years since the prestigious Delhi institution was founded in 1926.

The celebrations included the release of a Rs 100 commemorative coin and floral tributes to the college's founder, Sir Shri Ram, whose vision helped establish SRCC as one of India's leading institutions for commerce and economics education.

Ahead of the main programme at the college campus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled on the Delhi Metro from Lok Kalyan Marg to Vishwavidyalaya and interacted with around 30 students during the journey.

The interaction focused on education, career opportunities, aspirations and the future goals of young Indians. Students shared their perspectives on their ambitions and their expectations for the future, reflecting a broader focus on engaging with India's younger generation.

The outreach also highlighted the role of Gen Z and young people in India's long-term development journey, with discussions centred on education, skills, careers and opportunities.

The programme also placed India's economic growth story in the context of global challenges. Discussions referred to India's reported 7.8% GDP growth in the first quarter and highlighted the country's economic performance amid continuing global uncertainty.

The SRCC centenary celebrations brought together the institution's century-long educational legacy with discussions around the future of India's youth and economy.

As the college enters its next century, the focus remained on preparing students for a rapidly changing economic environment and encouraging the younger generation to play a larger role in India's future development.
