Kashmiri Pandits Face Fresh Terror Threat After Personal Details Allegedly Released

Kashmiri Pandit employees working under the Prime Minister's Package in Jammu and Kashmir have sought enhanced security after a terror group allegedly released personal information that could expose them to potential attacks.

The threat has triggered fresh concerns among migrant employees and the wider Kashmiri Pandit community, prompting demands for immediate action from the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

Terror Group Allegedly Releases Personal Details

According to reports, the United Liberation Council, described as a proxy of the Pakistan-based terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, released personal details of several employees.

The information reportedly included mobile phone numbers and vehicle registration details, raising concerns that the data could be used to identify and target Kashmiri Pandit employees.

The incident comes against the backdrop of continuing security concerns surrounding Kashmiri Pandits and other minority communities living and working in the Kashmir Valley.

PM Package Employees Forum Seeks Enhanced Security

Following the alleged threat, the PM Package Employees Forum Kashmir wrote to the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, seeking stronger security arrangements for employees.

The forum has demanded that authorities take immediate steps to ensure the safety of Kashmiri Pandit employees, particularly those working in areas considered vulnerable to terrorist activity.

Migrant employees have also raised concerns about their personal safety and sought greater protection from security agencies.

Security Forces Step Up Area Domination

Security forces have reportedly increased their presence and stepped up area domination exercises following the threat.

Additional security measures are being implemented in vulnerable areas, particularly in villages across the Shopian district, where security agencies are working to prevent any possible terrorist attack.

Authorities have assured employees that necessary protection is being provided and that security agencies are monitoring the situation.

Kashmiri Pandits Say Terror Threats Will Not Intimidate Them

Despite the renewed threat, members of the Kashmiri Pandit community have said they will not be intimidated by terrorist organisations.

The latest incident has, however, revived concerns about the security of Kashmiri Pandit employees who returned to the Valley under the Prime Minister's employment package.

The package was introduced to provide government employment opportunities to Kashmiri Pandits and encourage their rehabilitation in Jammu and Kashmir following the mass displacement of the community during the period of militancy in the 1990s.

Authorities Assure Protection

The Jammu and Kashmir administration and security agencies have assured that appropriate measures are being taken to address the safety concerns raised by employees.

Security forces remain deployed across sensitive areas, while authorities are assessing potential risks following the alleged release of personal information.
