A candid remark by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about Donald Trump’s eating habits has reignited debate around the US President’s health, age, and stamina. Speaking during a podcast conversation, Kennedy offered a mix of humour and insight while describing how Trump’s disciplined routine at home contrasts sharply with his diet while travelling.
According to Kennedy, Trump follows a relatively healthy diet when staying at the White House or his Florida residence, where meals are prepared under controlled conditions. However, once on the road, the president reportedly turns to fast food, relying on familiar brands to avoid falling ill during packed travel schedules. Kennedy said Trump prefers food from large, well-known chains because he trusts their consistency and safety.
The Health Secretary dismissed concerns that the diet has affected Trump’s performance, remarking on the president’s resilience. In a comment that quickly drew attention online, Kennedy said he was amazed by Trump’s stamina, adding that he did not understand “how he’s alive” given the pace of his schedule and eating habits. He went on to describe Trump as one of the most energetic individuals he has encountered, insisting that fast food consumption during travel had not slowed him down.
Kennedy’s comments come at a time when Trump is facing renewed public scrutiny over his health and age. At 79, Trump is already the oldest serving US president and would be 82 by the end of a second term. Like previous occupants of the office, he has been subject to intense examination over signs of fatigue, physical appearance, and overall fitness for leadership.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump pushed back against repeated questions about his health. He dismissed claims that he appeared drowsy at public events, attributing such perceptions to camera angles and timing. Trump also denied that changes to his schedule were linked to stamina, saying he has never been someone who sleeps much and prefers to focus on what he considers essential meetings.
The president also addressed visible bruising on his hands, explaining that he takes a daily aspirin dose of around 325 milligrams to keep his blood “thin.” Medical professionals typically recommend lower doses, but Trump said the regimen helps him and acknowledged that makeup is sometimes applied to cover bruises, including those caused by minor accidents.
The White House has consistently defended Trump’s physical and mental fitness. Following a comprehensive medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in late 2025, Trump’s physician stated that the president remained in excellent health, citing strong cardiovascular and neurological indicators.
Supporters argue that Trump’s demanding travel schedule and frequent public appearances demonstrate his endurance, while critics say his age and lifestyle choices warrant closer attention. Kennedy’s remarks, though light-hearted, have added fuel to an ongoing public conversation about leadership, longevity, and transparency in high office.
As the debate continues, the president’s team maintains that Trump’s energy levels, work ethic, and medical evaluations speak for themselves, regardless of whether his travel meals come from fine dining or fast-food counters.
