Chhattisgarh Naxal Attack: Two Villagers Killed in Bijapur

Two villagers in Nela Kanker village, Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, were reportedly killed by Naxalites using sharp-edged weapons late on Friday night. The victims, 25-year-old Ravi Kattam and 38-year-old Tirupati Sodhi, were attacked under the jurisdiction of Basaguda police station.

The Bijapur Superintendent of Police, Dr. Jitendra Yadav, confirmed that authorities received information on the incident on the night of October 24 and are currently verifying details.

The attack occurs amid intensified anti-Naxal operations across the Bastar region, with the Chhattisgarh government aiming to eradicate Naxalism by March 2026. Security teams from the Usur police station have been dispatched to the site, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances of the killings.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in combating Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh despite major surrenders and anti-extremism efforts in recent months.
