Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa Call 'Homebound's Oscar Selection a Surreal Moment
Actors Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa expressed their excitement after their film Homebound was selected as India’s official entry for the 98th Academy Awards. While Jethwa described the news as “surreal,” Khatter shared the film’s poster on social media, calling the recognition “unreal.”
Khatter reposted Dharma Productions’ announcement on Instagram Stories, stating, “Unreal. This is just the most special film.” The original post read, “We are proud to announce that Homebound is India’s official entry for Best International Feature at the 98th Academy Awards.”
Speaking about the moment, Jethwa said, “This feels absolutely surreal. To know that Homebound is representing India on the world’s biggest cinematic stage is beyond anything I imagined when I began my journey in films.” He thanked director Neeraj Ghaywan for trusting him with a challenging role and praised co-actors Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor for their collaboration and support on set.
Jethwa added, “This recognition isn’t just a milestone for me personally; it’s a testament to the entire team’s hard work, passion, and the power of Indian storytelling. I feel proud to be part of a film that carries a piece of our culture and heart to an international audience.”
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound also features Janhvi Kapoor in a pivotal role. India Today’s review praised the film for its emotional depth, stating that it leaves audiences with “a heaviness in your chest… not of despair, but of responsibility.”
The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 26, 2025.
