Kumar Sanu Sends Legal Notice to Ex-Wife Rita Bhattacharya Over Allegations

Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu has taken legal action against his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya after she publicly accused him and his family of depriving her of food and basic necessities during her third pregnancy.

Sanu, represented by lawyer Sana Raees Khan, formally challenged the allegations, emphasizing the singer’s long-standing career and reputation. Khan stated, “For over 40 years, Mr. Kumar Sanu has poured his soul into music, giving joy to millions and earning love and respect across the world. Hurtful lies may create noise for a moment, but they can never erase the legacy of an artist who has given a lifetime of music and memories to generations.”

The legal team further clarified their intent to pursue action to protect Sanu’s dignity and family honor: “We will ensure that malicious attempts to defame him are met with the full force of the law… No individual or media platform has the right to malign a father’s honour or trade his family’s respect for sensationalism.”

Rita Bhattacharya, in an interview with Film Window, accused Sanu of restricting her freedom and mistreating her during her pregnancy. She alleged that his sister moved in with them, sharing a room with Sanu while Rita stayed in another room with their children. She also claimed that he withheld household necessities, stating, “He ran away. He even took the microwave and the fans with him. After that, he stopped milk and medicine deliveries to the house, but fortunately, both the milkman and the doctor continued visiting. You don't know how much this man has tortured me and my three children.”

Sanu’s legal notice aims to formally address these claims and safeguard his reputation, stressing that the allegations are unfounded and damaging.
